Polygamy, again

I agree with Aco. That is, I don't disagree with the practice of polygamy.

What concerns me more is the fact that the President (and that means, representing the State) needs to have a say on this. It is amazing that SBY can't say a word on a lot of things he is supposed to be decisive, yet he quickly reacts to private matters like this. In today's paper (linked later) it is reported, SBY wants people not to make a big deal out of this polygamy thingy. Well, you, a president, should not make a big deal out of it.

Polygamy is not and never supposed to be the State's business. Managing taxpayers money well is.

  4. i prefer the government deals with this polygamy issue, rather than religious zealots. the stake is high here. we can bring down governments by our votes, but we can't do anything with religious eddicts. this is a kind of issues that govt should step in.

i'm glad SBY took the innitiative. it sends signal that indonesians can't do anything they want using religious justification.

  5. i think it is not anyone's business how many wives a man has or with whom is a man/woman is having an afafir with, as long as it does not interfere his/her performance on the job.

  6. If polygami is implemented in Indonesia, is there any kind of tax exemption for income, land and property?

  7. i think so. more wives and children, less tax you pay! fair enough...

  9. Yes, but I'm not sure what the form is in legal and civil registration. As a Christian, I'm not allowed to have another wife unless I've been converted to Islam.

I don't wanna do that (converting), I still wanna keep my Christianity identity as well as trying to love 2 women and happilly ever after in terms of marriage.

To do that, there is a need for a civil legislation that allows men from other religions for conducting polygamy.

So, state law should compromise church law. Church may reject the 2nd wife's marriage cert, but hopefully state may accept.

Sorry, I'm just dreaming here. I gave up my other galfriend ages ago. She's been surviving with her own money.

She's definitely rich, she can have two or more unemployed husbands. She's "the man"!
